The National

My favorite discovery of 2009 was The National. (thank you Pandora Internet Radio) I listened to them nonstop and then some. Tonight they are on Jimmy Fallon!! (set those DVRs!)

These guys should be huge, and they will be one day... just wait. In the meantime, give them a listen.

Spring day

Color is starting to appear again in the foothills. Spring is in the air.

Today was 58 and the sun was glorious.

The skies are dramatic.

The clouds are expressive.

There's still snow on the hills.

And the cats say.... "More sun please!"

Spring color, Maui style!

2/13/10

Saturday afternoon we decided to go to the beach before we left. Our flight left at 11:30 pm and we had the whole day to fill. We headed off to Lahaina. The guys wanted to kayak again. Rebecca and I were happy to lounge in the sun.

The water was smoother than the days prior. The kayaking was good. The whales came out to bid us farewell.

Riley, the happiest dog in the world.

We spent the rest of the day relaxing. As we drove to the airport we had our first real Maui rain.

Once again we packed ourselves into an over stuffed plane. Our flight was delayed an hour, but we made our connections on time. We flew off in the middle of the night, going back in time and toward home.

.... And Thank God, Jack Jack was not on the plane.

Saturday 2/13/10

One of Riley's favorite places in Maui is the pineapple field, half a block from home. If you say "pine field" to him, he smiles. (a sweet little doggy smile :)

Saturday morning George suggested that we were ride over to the pine field to check it out. We hopped on borrowed bikes and off we went!


The ride was quick and painless. The pine field stretched as far as we could see. Scott took off on his bike to explore, I used my time to take artsy shots of pineapples and enjoy the fragrant air.
